For Corsa buyers identifying a part. Powertrain examples come from Vauxhall's May 2024 UK range information; they do not describe every older Corsa.
The first question is which Corsa you have. A generation letter, an electric-model name and a registration year are not interchangeable descriptions. This guide helps you separate them and prepare a request that a parts supplier can check against the actual car.
Corsa engine guide: petrol, hybrid or electric?
Vauxhall's May 2024 information distinguishes petrol, 48-V hybrid and Corsa Electric versions. Its hybrid combines a petrol engine with a motor in an electrified dual-clutch transmission. Corsa Electric instead needs an electric-drivetrain enquiry, not a petrol replacement-engine request. Do not apply the 2024 range to an older car without identifying it.
Vauxhall also uses Corsa E for the 2014–2019 generation; that label alone does not mean Corsa-e or Corsa Electric. Record the fuel or powertrain and VIN, then ask the workshop for the exact component description. On a combustion-engine replacement, have the cause of failure investigated before discussing the replacement assembly and its included ancillaries.
Corsa alternator problems: identify the system first
A petrol-car alternator enquiry, a hybrid-system enquiry and an electric-car charging enquiry must not be combined under one assumed part. Tell the workshop whether the problem concerns starting, a dashboard warning, the 12-V system or charging from an external supply. Record the exact message and when it occurs; that is more useful than naming an unconfirmed replacement.
On a conventional alternator system, a weak battery, poor connection or drive-belt problem can also cause charging symptoms. Ask for an assessment before buying. For electric or hybrid equipment, use a qualified workshop and the correct handbook rather than inspecting high-voltage components yourself.
Corsa ECU replacement: ask which module
An engine-control-unit request is not a substitute for identifying whichever control module has been diagnosed. Ask the workshop to supply its precise description and complete label identifiers, and confirm the proposed unit with the installer. Do not treat matching body shape or generation as proof that its electronics are suitable.
Ask whether you are buying repair, prepared exchange or a used unit, and who handles required coding. Bosch's exchange service illustrates why software preparation matters; it does not establish that every Corsa uses a Bosch ECU. Agree costs and the return arrangement before committing to a module the fitter has not accepted.
Browsing Corsa parts without confusing versions
Use the Vauxhall make page for catalogue browsing, but describe the powertrain explicitly in the actual request. For body parts, give the generation, body style, side and relevant equipment, then compare the full part number and photographs. An illustration in a catalogue is not a photograph of the item a breaker will send.
If a supplier suggests a replacement with a different identifier, ask it to explain the supersession or application evidence for your car. Keep that answer alongside the offered item's condition, included fittings and written terms. A registration lookup helps start this conversation; it does not finish the fitment check.
Finding a breaker for the right Corsa
When contacting a breaker, avoid asking only for Corsa E parts. State the year, actual powertrain, body style and component identifier so the business can distinguish the request. Ask for photographs of the exact offered item and the donor details and testing evidence it can provide.
The directory identifies businesses, not confirmed Corsa stock or specialist high-voltage capability. Ask the business directly about availability and relevant competence. Obtain delivery and return terms in writing and agree any collection with that supplier; there are no collections at Spare Car Part's registered office.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about this guide
Does Corsa E always mean an electric Corsa?
No. Vauxhall uses Corsa E for a generation, while Corsa-e and Corsa Electric identify electric versions. Confirm the actual powertrain and vehicle identity.
Should I request a petrol engine for Corsa Electric?
No. Ask the workshop to identify the electric-drivetrain component required rather than treating an electric motor and a petrol engine as equivalent assemblies.
Can a Corsa catalogue picture confirm the supplied part?
No. Obtain the actual item's photographs, complete identifier and the supplier's application evidence for your vehicle before accepting the offer.
