Brand history
The story of VW
Volkswagen — "the people's car" — was founded in 1937 to build the Beetle designed by Ferdinand Porsche. Post-war production at Wolfsburg restarted under British army oversight.
The Golf arrived in 1974 and has been the European hatchback benchmark ever since. The Transporter (since 1950) is the longest-running van model in history.
VW UK is headquartered in Milton Keynes; the brand shares platforms and parts across Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Porsche, giving exceptional fitment cross-compatibility.
