The story of Nissan
Nissan was founded as Jidosha-Seizo Co. in 1933 and adopted the Nissan name in 1934. The Datsun marque exported Japanese cars to Britain from the 1960s.
The Qashqai (2007) defined the crossover segment and is built at Nissan Sunderland Plant — the UK's largest car factory, opened in 1986.
Sunderland now also produces the Juke, Leaf and the new electric Qashqai/Juke replacements, supported by a battery gigafactory next door.
