The story of BMW
BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) started as an aircraft-engine maker in 1916 before pivoting to motorcycles in 1923 and cars in 1928.
The brand built its reputation on rear-wheel-drive sports saloons through the E30/E46/E90 3 Series and the M division — still the benchmark for European performance saloons.
BMW Group UK has been headquartered in Farnborough since 1979 and produces the Mini at Oxford Plant and Rolls-Royce at Goodwood.
