The story of Kia
Kia is Korea's oldest carmaker, founded in 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry, originally making bicycle parts and motorcycles.
After a 1997 bankruptcy and takeover by Hyundai in 1998, Kia transformed into a design-led global player under Peter Schreyer (ex-Audi).
The Sportage, Niro and EV6 lead UK sales; Kia and Hyundai share platforms and powertrains, so parts cross-fit between equivalent models.
