The story of Vauxhall
Vauxhall began as an iron works in Vauxhall, London in 1857 and built its first car in 1903 — making it the oldest surviving British vehicle manufacturer.
Acquired by GM in 1925, Vauxhall became the badge-engineered UK arm of Opel for most of the post-war era; the Astra, Corsa and Insignia were built in Ellesmere Port and Luton.
Since 2017 Vauxhall has been part of Stellantis (formerly PSA), and Ellesmere Port is now a fully electric van plant building Vivaro-e, Combo-e and their Stellantis siblings.
