The story of Mini
The original Mini, designed by Alec Issigonis and launched in 1959, revolutionised small-car packaging with its transverse engine and front-wheel drive.
BMW acquired the Mini brand in 1994; the modern MINI Hatch arrived in 2001 and Plant Oxford has built every one since.
Mini is now part of the BMW Group with the Cooper, Clubman, Countryman and electric Mini Cooper SE all sharing BMW Group platforms.
