The story of Volvo
Volvo ("I roll" in Latin) was founded in 1927 as a subsidiary of bearing-maker SKF. Safety has been the brand's defining priority ever since.
Volvo invented the modern three-point seatbelt in 1959 and made the patent free to all carmakers — saving an estimated million lives.
Geely acquired Volvo Cars in 2010 and has invested heavily in electrification (Recharge range, Polestar spin-off, full-EV roadmap by 2030).
